The department consists of 8 members of dynamic staff to impart knowledge of Mathematics & Physics to our valued students.

The mission of the department is to provide an environment where students can learn and become competent users in Mathematics and Physics in the real world. The department continuously aims to contribute to the development of students as Mathematical thinkers, enabling them to become lifelong learners and to grow in their chosen career.

Department Activities and Achievements

The department has participated in various activities during the year which are as follows:

  • World Meteorological Day Event was coordinated and marked on 23/03/23 by the Awareness was created through poster and charts display, speech and video presentation on the theme “The future of weather, climate and water across generations”.

 

  • The department participated in the Zonal Team Mathematics Competition (TMC) on 21st July 2023 at Xavier College. The year 10 level team attained 2nd position in the Zone and participated in the National Finals.

            The school attained overall 4th position in the North West Zone 2023.

 

  • Rinal Prasad was the recipient of the Fiji Water Grant assistance and

            has been awarded with Life Mathematics equipment and calculators for the                  

            department.

  • Numeracy Programme has been conducted during the year to assist students in basic mathematical and calculation skills.

 

  • 134 students participated in the Fiji Mathematics Competition (FMC) on 21st September, 2023.

 

Although Mathematics and Physics are challenging subjects for teaching and learning, the department teachers have been very supportive and empowered students to reach their potential.

 

Finally, I would like to thank the department teachers for their co-operation and hard work and the school administrators for their continuous support throughout the year.
